How to build an awesome gaming PC for just $600

Like most gamers online i have noticed that many of the pro players, YouTubers, and twitch streamers all use awesome, expensive gaming PCs to play their games. But sadly i like most people don't have the ability to cough up $1000 dollars to make mother lord of computers. So i was determined to do some hard research and make an make an awesome computer for just $600. But due to the fact that we are subsidizing the cost we are going to need to make some cuts. During this build we are going to make the best gaming PC that money can buy but we are not going to include the cost of Accessories such as Monitors, Keyboards, Mouses etc because those can be determined by pure preferences and could easily amount to an extra $200+

  1. Organizing our build
So the first thing that we are going to do is organize the components that we are going to need for our build. This list is going to help us understand the main parts of a CPU while letting us visualize our tasks.
  • Case
  • Power Supply
  • CPU
  • Motherboard
  • Memory (RAM)
  • Storage
  • Graphics Card
Now we need to prioritize our options and figure out which one we are go to spend the bulk of our money on. Everybody's priorities are different but because we are building a gaming PC I plan on spending most of our $600 budget on our Graphics card.So now we are going to priorities our list from 1 (Most Important) to 10 (Least Important).
  1. Graphics Card
  2. CPU
  3. Memory
  4. Motherboard
  5. Storage
  6. Power Supply
  7. Case

1. Graphics Card

When choosing a graphics card for your PC you need to take in to consideration that you are going to be playing fast moving pixels and you need to make sure that you have a graphics card that can keep up. So for our choice we have chosen the EVGA GeForce GTX 960 SuperSC ACX.

Costing only $210 The GTX 960 SuperSC is one of the best Video cards that you can get for the price. Compared to the GTX 660 this Video Card is able to offer 60% faster performance, twice the power efficiency, and dynamic super resolution for 4K-quality gaming on 1080p displays. Which makes it a perfect addition to our awesome gaming computer.

2. CPU

With a price tag of $100 the AMD FX-6300 6-Core Processor is the best. It comes with 6 piledriver cores that is able to push out outstanding 3D modeling and HD video. This processor also has a fabulous overclocking capability. Originally the processor can push out 3.5 GHZ but when Overdrived it can push out 4.1 GHz.

And because we have the power efficient GTX 960 we are going pair it with this processor because it has improved performance and energy efficiency. This allows for our Computer to stay relatively cool and keep it from making to much noise.

3.Memory

The G.Skill F3-128 RipjawsX is a very beautiful and dynamic memory chipset for our awesome gaming computer. Not only is this 8 GB of ram, but it also compatible on a wide variety of Motherboards. This is very good because it allows us to make a wise decision on the price of our motherboard and even save money while doing it.

This chipset is very beautiful and allows us to even consider a transparent case to make our case look even more boss.

4.Motherboard

This is by far not the best motherboard in the world but with the monetary limitations that we have we are going to use the MSI Computer Corp. Socket AM3+

Do not worry this motherboard will not hinder the amazing gameplay that you are going to endure after the build this is just a computer component that connects our components together.

5.Storage

I kind kind of went a little over board with the Hard drive i chose but i couldn't live with myself if i just did not have 1TB of storage. The Western Digital 1TB Desktop Hard Drive that i chose was just so cheap compared to all of the headaches relived from not having that much space.

Quiet acoustics, reduced vibration and advanced 4K HDD formatting makes WD Green a stronger solution when compared to the competition and perfect for PCs and external drive applications. WD Green also features a Dual Stage Actuator, which delivers higher precision motion for 2X the data performance and increases drive reliability.

6.Power Supply

For our power supply i tried very hard to find a power supply that was cheap and repetitively quiet. The EVGA 500B 500W is not a quiet beast but it is much better than most of these cheap power supplies. The only problem that i may have with this power superfluous cables. They have many different options of cables but they are going to be a headache to organize (time to get some zip-ties).

There are some positives to this power supply. This supply was made with some very good protection such as Heavy-duty Protections, including OVP (Over Voltage Protection), UVP (Under Voltage Protection), OCP (Over Current Protection), OPP (Over Power Protection), SCP (Short Circuit Protection), and OTP (Over Temperature Protection). cause who really has time to have their $600 dollar PC Blow up on them.

7.Case

So the case that we chose for our build is the Apevia X-Sniper 2 Metal Case. This case provided us with ample room and many of the aesthetics that we need in a case. The one thing that i really like is the transparent window. This window will allow us to keep an eye on our stuff and if need allow use to add led lights in there. Another reason that i am so pumped for this case is because it is huge. Some people don't like when there cases are big but later when you want to make an upgrade to your gaming PC you are going to have to buy a whole new case. The only problem with this case is the cable management. So i recommend that you definitely invest in some zip ties because you are definitely going to need them.

So now that we have concluded everything that we are going to need for our build, we are going to calculate our price and see if we got anywhere near to $600.

  1. Graphics Card (EVGA GeForce GTX 960 SuperSC ACX  $210)
  2. CPU (AMD FX-6300 6-Core Processor $100)
  3. Memory (G.Skill F3-128 RipjawsX $76)
  4. Motherboard (MSI Computer Corp. Socket AM3+ $75)
  5. Storage (Western Digital 1TB Desktop Hard Drive $53)
  6. Power Supply (EVGA 500B 500W $40)
  7. Case (Apevia X-Sniper 2 Metal Case $65)
That gives us a grand total of $619. A little over our budget but that is fine. If you are pressed for cash you could always get lower storage and then buy an external hard drive. But as it is now this build is ready for some BattleField HardLine Beta on high visual setting. This baby is able to pump out great with no lag. Just take care of her. Now if you want to buy some good Computer
accessories you may need to cough out an extra $200. You just have to remember that gaming jaust an investment on yourself.
